Catch Genes / Exons Covered by a NGS Kit.
Usually NGS kits (panels of genes) suppliers will provide you with a BED file correspponding to their kits. One interesting approach is to capture genes/codex (coding parts of exons) that are covered by the kit/panel.
So if you have on hands a validated Database (e.g. our validated Human Genes Products Database: Click here to catch it), then you are just one more step from identifying genes/codex of a specific NGS kit: You just have to download and run our dedicated perl code (Click here to download the code).
Usage: Output will provide you with interesting info about the genes covered (inclusive some hyperlink). So that you will be able to figure out what's behind the scena. and get inspiration to build your own optimal dataset of genes.
Remark: Agilent "SureDesign" tool provides a way to build a dedicated/specific genes dataset.
